When Skip N’ Whistle sent me a box of rad shirts to style, a concept began to take shape in my head, centered around Idaho and this beautiful city I love. With a variety to choose from, I reached out to Idaho expert and star of Napoleon Dynamite, Jon Heder on Twitter. (Yes, celebrities sometimes respond to the common-folk! Now go tweet Lady Gaga.) He responded thusly:

jonhederGood call, Jon! He was right; nothing represents Idaho Pride better than the brave, stoic face of a Native American Chief. This land once belonged to a multitude of proud tribal people groups, who are a vital part of the history & culture our nation! In fact, the Nez Perce tribe is currently making national news, as they gathered hundreds of people to form a human chain, blocking a 322-ton load of equipment and oil trucks lumbering through their private land, along the same historic trail taken by Lewis & Clark. Read more about that here!

Armed with a custom-made bullet necklace from Anna Van Wey Dempsey and this epic BANANA ink belt, I felt pretty brave and proud too.

Idaho, I love you.
XOXO,
Tanya

  3. Love Idaho for the friendly people. We were looking for a new place to live (were in Phoenix at the time) and were visiting.

Went to the grocery store and was loading items into my car. Someone actually spoke to me and they said “Can I take your cart?”.

We were sold on Idaho and moved here 3 months later!

  6. I am originally from New York and have lived in many places in-between. I call Idaho my home now, and have lived here most of my life. I love Idaho because you get a little bit of everything here. You can have the city feel and atmosphere by heading downtown Boise or travel just minutes to get into the wilderness. There is so much to do in Idaho without having to travel far to do it. Plus, I have 4 children and I think Idaho is a great place to raise them!

  7. What’s not to love here? it is beautiful and you have so many places to hike, bike, run and play. The people are kind and generous and so willing to help and you don’t even have to ask–I have been in the grocery store (or any other for that matter) and been discussing a need for something I cannot find and customers will hear and tell you where you can find it and where the best prices are. No matter where you are, if you are hiking, picnicking, going for a walk, people still smile and say “hi” to strangers and engage them in friendly conversation. I have been from one coast to the other and lived in 2 foreign countries and you just don’t see that like you do in Idaho.

  8. I love Idaho for the great biking and hiking. I can’t wait for Fall when I can ride on the green belt with all the orange leaves.
