Grand Opening: The Aveda Experience

August, a new Aveda Experience Center opened in Boise Towne Square Mall. I was invited, along with awesome fellow Idaho blogger & friend Annelise Rowe (http://www.auniesauce.com/), to a special private event, where we got to meet the staff, learn about Aveda’s cool products and mission, and have some fun pampering time.

After a delish breakfast bar and coffee, we sat with Zoe, one of Aveda’s national reps. She showed us a beautiful video about Aveda’s mission: to have natural, non-toxic products, a low carbon footprint, and help communities through fair trade and service projects. Their mission statement is to “set an example for environmental leadership & responsibility, not just in the world of beauty, but around the world.” To this end, their products are 95% organic, in 100% recyclable packaging, and their manufacturing runs on 100% certified wind power. When they say “we want to make the world a more beautiful place,” they really mean it!

After getting to know each other, we got to play and be pampered at a variety of beauty stations: makeup, hair, and skin care. If you are looking for consultation or education in any of those areas, head to your local Aveda Experience for personalized pampering – it’s so much fun and very educational!

My friend Katie Trujillo color-matched my makeup, and hooked me up with some fabulous mineral foundation (I’m a die-hard mineral pressed foundation fan!), and this gorgeous magenta lip stick. Yeah, it totally matches my hair, and instantly became my new signature lip color for Fall (I’m wearing it in the photo below.)

Next I met with Rich Wright, the skin care pro. He custom-matched my skin needs and gave me a “pure-scription” to follow. I’ve started using Aveda’s Tourmaline Charged line, and it’s been AMAZING! I’m totally in love, especially with the Radiant Skin Refiner; its tourmaline crystals scrub, exfoliate, and refine my skin for a beautiful glow! My face has never felt so fresh & smooth; it’s like a microdermabrasion in a bottle!

On to hair care, with Derek Fisher from downtown Boise’s acclaimed Graeber & Company Salon. I showed him a photo of an epic bob style I found on Facebook, and he hooked me up with the exact look! Pumped, messy, vibrant, awesome… Derek is brilliant! Be watching for his work on future photo shoots with me. 😉

By the end of this Aveda Experience, I felt educated, pampered and invigorated. Armed with a generous supply of personalized beauty products, with ingredients an integrity I can trust, I’m ready to revamp my beauty routine and happily dive into this world of posh, natural products.
