a very busy girl. Between blogging, Fashion segments on KTVB, photo shoots, and styling clients, I often run myself ragged trying to get everything done. Oh, and I’m a wife & mother, so add grocery shopping, cooking meals, helping with homework, and spending time with family to that list. Can you relate? The thought of taking an afternoon off to go pamper myself doesn’t occur to me very often. I put it in the “would be nice if…” category of my life.
So when Spa Urbana in downtown Boise recently contacted me, asking if I would come review their Spa and receive a relaxing facial, I jumped at the chance! I can’t remember the last time I had a facial – if ever! I had no idea what to expect, but it sounded fantastic. Count me in!
Spa Urbana is an unassuming little gem on Idaho St., tucked between Java cafe and the Old Spaghetti Factory. I walked in the door, and gasped. Oh, that amazing smell! Somehow, all the candles & beauty products basking in their sunlit lobby fuse together to form the most beautiful aroma! I was aware of people greeting me, but momentarily stunned by that scent! Next time you’re walking down Idaho St., pop your head in the door and just inhale. Amazing!
I was greeted warmly by these two awesome people above, Jude and Krista! Krista was the skin technician who would perform my facial. She led me back through the spa, past beautiful statues & fountains, to a posh Relaxation Room, stocked with big, cushy chairs, bathrobes, and a variety of tea and other refreshing drinks. What a peaceful place! Note to Spa Urbana: you could rent out those chairs for corporate naps! Just saying… 😉
Krista offered me a beverage, and then left the room so I could change into a robe. I was surprised to wear a robe for a facial, but she let me know the facial included a neck & shoulder massage! Ah, this was getting better by the minute! I changed & settled in for my treatment.
According to Krista, the Organic Enzyme Facial from Arcona is a “highly-effective, fully-customizable treatment that provides cellular renewal for sun-damaged, aged, and dull-looking skin.” Having somewhat abused my skin this summer with a little too much time in the fierce Boise sun, this seemed perfect for me! In Krista’s words, “This activating yet soothing treatment cleanses and restores your skin to its natural and beautiful balance. Organic fruit enzymes dissolve dead skin and refine pores, stimulating the dermis to produce more collagen and elastin!”
In other words, I was getting my glow on! And loving every minute of it. The tingling warmth, the hot steam, the soothing massage… Whatever was happening on a chemical level with my skin, it felt GOOD! And the best part: my skin truly was glowing! But not like the flaky, burning glow you sometimes get with harsher chemicals; it felt baby-soft, and was rosy-flushed. And it stayed that way for days!
Maybe it’s time this busy bee girl starts taking better care of her skin. If not only for the sake of taking better care of myself, but also for the relaxation and fabulous little nap, lol! And that wonderful, heavenly aroma…
XOXO,
Tanya

I don’t need a facial. I need two more arms to help out around here, much less somebody who actually isn’t stuck in a fantasy world and waiting for the next paycheck they aren’t doing much to earn…
but that’s the mental health clinic.
