Designer Spotlight: Bryce Black Part 2, the Interview

first part of this article is HERE, where I traveled to Twin Falls with photographers & videographers Sunny Lynne, Edward Alexander, and Jim Reidenbaugh to attend Project Runway star Bryce’s Black’s homecoming and special charity event fashion show!

The day after Bryce’s fashion show, Sunny and I had the privilege and honor of meeting up with him, for a photo shoot and interview! I’ve never worn couture designer clothing before, so slipping into dresses that were made by Bryce for his major fashion shows in L.A. and New York was a thrilling experience! I had goosebumps, and it wasn’t just because we were shooing in sub-30-degree weather.

In between outfit shoots, I had a chance to sit down with Bryce, and ask him about his journey. Sunny Lynne added the interview to her mini-documentary about Bryce, which you can view below! We chatted about the show, and how moving it was to see the outpouring of love & support not only from his family, but from the entire community of Twin Falls as well. When I asked him if it had always been that way, his answer was a resounding “No!” When Bryce began his career in fashion, no one really knew or understood how big his dreams were. It wasn’t until his appearance on Project Runway, that his family & friends truly understood how serious he was about building his brand and fashion empire!

He went on to deliver some wise & practical advice, to other young men & women looking to pursue careers in the fashion & beauty industry: “It has to come from within… You have to believe in yourself!” (Watch Sunny’s video below for more of Bryce’s advice & insight!) Until the people closest to him could truly understand what Bryce was all about, he surrounded himself with other people who could encourage and support his dreams, and held fast to his passion & dreams, no matter what! Now, at the ripe, energetic age of 28, Bryce has a major TV appearance and multiple clothing lines under his belt. And his family couldn’t be more proud of him; the entire Fashion show/homecoming was staffed with volunteer family members, and many in the audience were proud family as well! His brothers were models, his sisters did makeup, and his mother styled everyone’s hair backstage. It was a group effort, and the comradery shone strong in Bryce’s show.

So to all the mothers, brothers, grandparents, fathers, sisters, aunts & uncles of aspiring designers & artists: support the ones you love, even if you don’t fully understand their dreams, or what they’re capable of! And to those young designers & artists with a special light to shine upon the world, go forth and radiate, with all the energy & beauty you have to muster! The world needs you, even if we don’t all realize it yet.
